Stroll health First Derm Partnership health technology startup silicon valley make dermatology accessible cheap fast

With the cost of health care skyrocketing, the average American will spend $15,000 a year on health care by 2023. Today, a simple visit to a dermatologist can range anywhere from $100 to $3000 with wait times sometimes 30 days or more, making the process of finding the right doctor difficult. Today, Stroll Health and First Derm, two health tech startups in San Francisco, have partnered to make dermatology care accessible to everyone and available at any time at a fair price.

Stroll Health’s newly designed health care marketplace will feature First Derm’s teledermatology services. This will allow anyone to search for a dermatology clinic or simply send pictures of the skin in question to First Derm and get an answer within hours. Stroll Health and First Derm joined the same cohort at UC Berkeley’s Skydeck startup accelerator. The two CEOs bonded over revolutionizing the existing health care system and decided to join forces soon after.

“We are excited to partner with Stroll Health, which is an award-winning consumer friendly and transparent platform. First Derm has the same vision of giving transparent health information on skin concerns,”  says Dr. Alexander Börve, CEO of First Derm. “Together, we put the consumer in the driving seat so they can make the best informed health decisions for their family’s health—as easy as buying something online.”

The average wait time for an appointment with a dermatologist in America is 32 days. With First Derm’s technology, users are able to connect with a doctor to find out what’s wrong within hours. While 70% of First Derm users get better with over-the-counter medication– the rest need in-person treatment, such as a biopsy. Through Stroll Health’s award-winning platform, finding treatment has never been easier. After users input their type of treatment, location, and insurance, Stroll lists the best value options available in their area.

“For the first time ever, consumers can have confidence that they are getting a fair deal in healthcare,” says Stroll CEO Jordan Epstein. “We’ve designed a simple and seamless experience for finding case, and we’re excited to partner with the international leader in teledermatology to provide a world-class experience for skin conditions and skin-related questions. We look forward to working together and building the industry-leading experience for choosing care for years to come.”
